Peewee Soccer

Pee Wee Soccer is meant to foster enjoyment and provide players with basic skills to play the game. The focus is on fun and development with competitive play not starting until the U11 age group. Pee Wee players from U6 to U11 play on neighborhood teams. The teams are formed by the Age Group Coordinators with the aim of balancing team strength and grouping as much as possible by school location. Requests to play with friends will be considered but the final selections will be based on the needs of all players and teams. For the most part, teams stay together throughout Pee Wee play.

U-6 teams are organized into teams of 12 girls and play 3 v 3 games on a ¼ sized field. U-7 & U8 teams play 4 v 4 games on a ¼ sized field. U-9 and U-10 will play 7 v 7 games on a ½ sized field. U11 teams play 8 v 8 on a 1/2 sized field and are in a transition year to prepare for select soccer. Regular evaluation sessions are held throughout the year with the aim of preparing invites for select team tryouts at the end of the season.

U7 and U8 teams will have no more than 12 players. U9 to U11 teams will have no more than 14 players.

U6 Girls First Kix Program
  ▲Top

U6 Girls First Kix Program is a grassroots soccer program focused on free play, skill development and 3-on 3 games with minimal rules.

First Kix involves once a week sessions on the weekend (approximately one hour in length), working with volunteer parent coaches and staff coaches from the North Shore Soccer Development Centre. The girls will be involved in fun games and exercises designed to introduce the game of soccer in an age appropriate manner. There will be lots of small-sided games, "Mini World Cups" and other fun competitions on a regular basis.

In concert with NSGSC U6 First Kix , the North Shore Soccer Development Centre is dedicated to developing enthusiastic, knowledgeable, fun and qualified PARENT COACHES. These new coaches will be trained to help these young athletes develop through our soccer programs. The season runs from mid-September to early December and from February to May for U6 players.

Please read the Frequently Asked Questions for details about the program, see link below.

Pee Wee Schedules
  ▲Top

The soccer season runs from September – (usually the second weekend after Labour Day) to early March, with a break from mid-December to mid-January. No regular season games are held on Thanksgiving Weekend. The NSGSC sponsors a major Thanksgiving Tournament open with no registration fees to NSGSC U10 to U18 teams.

U6 and U7 teams play in a weekly First Kix jamboree program with an emphasis on development and fun small sided games. U8 to U11 teams play in an interlocking schedule with North Van and West Van teams. Games are scheduled for several weeks at a time. Scores are then reviewed and teams are grouped with others having similar records. (After Thanksgiving) The subsequent schedule will be based on these group allocations to help make games more competitive and fun.

U6 to U10 games are played on Saturdays on all-weather gravel school fields throughout the North Shore. Practices are held once a week, during the week, timing to be determined by a consensus of parents from each team. Teams generally get together for a team meeting from mid Aug to mid Sept to determine practice times and other team needs. U7 to U9 teams will practice in school gymnasiums while U10 & U11 teams will practice at an assigned all-weather lit field. U11 teams start to play games on Artificial Turf and Grass fields with the all weather gravel fields used for alternates.

Every year in late Feb or early March, Pee Wee jamborees are held to celebrate the completion of a successful soccer season. Mini games amongst NSGSC teams in each of the Pee Wee age groups are held at various fields throughout the North Shore. Medals and or trophies are presented to each player at the end of the games. The jamboree is a fun finale to the season. U11 teams are not in the jamboree as they are involved in the Community Cup through out the season. The Community Cup is their first experience with real competitive play.

Gym Time Request Form for U7, U8 and U9 PeeWee Teams
Each year, our school gymnasiums are kept busy with many groups requesting gymnasium times. Each year, it becomes more difficult for the School Board to accommodate our needs, and unfortunately, with the heavy demand for times, our gym times have been cut back each year.

Gym Time Request Form
Please complete the form on the link below and be sure to click on "post” when you finish. Please be sure to complete by August 1st or sooner.  It is extremely important that you be as flexible as possible regarding the day, time and school in your request.  We endeavour to accommodate your requests.  Please ensure that the correct daytime contact number for your team is completed.  If the school needs to cancel your practice, they will have to notify someone during the day.  Your gym coordinator will email (please include both coach and manager emails) you in September to notify you of your gym time.  The gyms are booked for use from the beginning of October to the week before the Pee Wee Year End Jamboree.  They are not available for use during school holidays.

Please make sure that the drinking fountains are used ONLY for drinking!  Kindly let your team and spectators know that using these gyms is a privilege; NO FOOD & DRINKS other than water are allowed.  Please encourage your team members to walk quietly if they must leave the gymnasium and enter the school area.
